What Happened

On 10 September 2026, the Intellectual Property Tribunal, Islamabad/Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, passed an order in Suit No. 44/2026, a case we filed titled Maaks International (Pvt.) Ltd. vs. Unauthorized Pizza Hut Outlets.

The order restrains the unauthorized party in this case, along with its directors, managers, employees, agents, and representatives, from opening, operating, managing, advertising, branding, or otherwise carrying out any Pizza Hut-related activity using the Pizza Hut name, trademarks, logo, trade dress, or visual identity.

This step was necessary to protect the brand we hold rights to, and to protect the investments made by us and our allied sub-franchisees across the country.

We know this kind of news can feel confusing from the outside, especially when it involves legal terms and Interim filings. So we’ve written this update in plain language, covering exactly what the order says, what it means, and what we’re asking the public to do.

Our Position

We hold the Master Franchisee rights for Pizza Hut in Pakistan under the applicable Pizza Hut MENAPAK / Yum! Brands franchise structure. These rights come from a Share Purchase Agreement dated 29 July 2022, along with the corresponding franchise structure, Development Agreement, and International Franchise Agreement signed in our favor.

Under this structure, we are responsible for how the Pizza Hut brand operates across Pakistan. That includes setting quality standards, training staff, sourcing ingredients, and making sure every branch under our network delivers the same experience, no matter which city it’s in.

We take that responsibility seriously, and we intend to keep protecting it through proper legal channels wherever necessary.

Why We Went to Interim

Running a national restaurant brand only works if there’s one clear standard everyone follows. That’s the whole idea behind a master franchise agreement. One company signs the agreements, takes on the responsibility, and answers for how the brand is represented in every city.

Over the past months, we noticed Pizza Hut-branded outlets opening and operating outside our authorized network. Some used our branding. Some used contact details that were never ours to begin with. This creates real confusion for customers, and real risk for anyone doing business with these locations, thinking they’re dealing with the authorized franchise.

We didn’t take this step lightly. Going to Interim was the responsible way to protect the brand, our team, our sub-franchisees, and the public, rather than letting the confusion continue to grow.

Clarifying the UAN Number

We want to be direct about one specific point: UAN 111-000-765 is not an official Pizza Hut Pakistan contact number.

The Interim’s order has also directed the unauthorized party covered by it not to use or represent this number as a Pizza Hut Pakistan contact. As part of this case, we’ve identified a number of recently opened or operating Pizza Hut-branded locations that are not part of our authorized network, and whose status is currently the subject of ongoing legal proceedings:

At present, 13 official Pizza Hut branches are operating under our authorized network across Pakistan, with 77 more expected to reopen soon under the required Pizza Hut standard operating procedures. We’re working steadily to bring our full network back to consistent, verified standards, city by city.

Every one of our authorized sub-franchisees has invested real time and real money into building their branch the right way, following our training programs, our supply standards, and our quality checks.
